WorkChat ("we," "us," or "our") operates WorkChat. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use our mobile app, website, and related services (the "Service").
By using the Service, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
For purposes of applicable data protection laws, WorkChat is the data controller for personal information processed through the Service.

We collect the following categories of information:
Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal data based on: performance of a contract (providing the Service); legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, product improvement); consent (where required, e.g., certain notifications, camera/microphone access, or location features); and legal obligation.
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in these circumstances:
We may process and store information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms.
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate security, backup, or fraud-prevention purposes.
Encrypted backups and server logs may persist for a limited time before automatic deletion or rotation.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to or withdraw consent for certain processing.
You can update profile and privacy settings in the app, export your data where available in Settings, and delete your account in Settings.
To exercise rights, contact privacy@workchats.net. We may verify your identity before responding. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California residents: we do not sell personal information. You may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA including access, deletion, and correction. Contact privacy@workchats.net.
We are committed to protecting your personal information using industry-standard technical and organizational measures designed to reduce risk, including:
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. While we work diligently to protect your data to the best of our ability and in line with industry standards, we cannot guarantee absolute security against all threats — including sophisticated cyberattacks, zero-day vulnerabilities, third-party provider incidents, or user credential compromise.
If we become aware of a personal data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify affected users and relevant supervisory authorities as required by applicable law, without undue delay.
Except where prohibited by mandatory law, and subject to the limitation of liability in our Terms of Use, we shall not be liable for unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss of personal data arising from events outside our reasonable control, provided we have implemented reasonable safeguards. This does not limit any rights or remedies you may have under non-waivable applicable law.
The Service is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe we have collected such information, contact privacy@workchats.net and we will take appropriate steps.
Our web application may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for authentication, preferences, and security. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect functionality.
With your permission, we send push notifications for messages, calls, meetings, announcements, and security alerts. You can disable notifications in device settings and in-app preferences.
Camera, microphone, photo library, contacts, and location permissions are requested only when needed for features you use (e.g., calls, media upload, QR scan). You may revoke permissions in device settings.
Location used for promotions is stored privately on your account and used in aggregate for analytics. We do not share your precise location with other users unless you explicitly choose to do so through a feature that displays it.
We may use automated systems to detect spam, abuse, and security threats. We do not make solely automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects without appropriate safeguards where required by law.
WorkChat communities, group chats, and announcements help teams collaborate. These Community Guidelines explain how to participate respectfully and safely. They are incorporated into this Privacy Policy and apply alongside our Terms of Use.
If you see content that violates these guidelines, use the in-app Report option on profiles and messages, or contact legal@workchats.net.
We may remove content, restrict visibility, or suspend accounts that violate our policies.
Communities are intended for users aged 16+ and professional use.
WorkChat does not actively monitor all private conversations but may review reported content and metadata as permitted by law and our policies.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy in the Service and update the "Last Updated" date. Material changes may require renewed acknowledgment where required by law.
